Rafa is always telling us all how Mallorca is the best place in the world for him. This was even before (and probably why) he was made a spokesperson for
Balearic Islands tourism.
I have never visited the island so I have shamelessly trawled the internet for a few snippets of information.
idealspain.com says "Mallorca is the biggest of the four islands in the Balearic group that offers everything you could wish for in a holiday. From long, golden beaches, tiny coves, mountains and remote villages to windmill-dotted plains; all year round enjoyment."
Manacor
This is an extract of what idealspain.com has to say about
Manacor -
"Manacor is lively, restless, accessible, rapidly growing, a great centre for sport activities, shopping, industry and culture, including art and is a commercial and industrial town and regional capital. The town of Manacor is situated in a hollow which experiences the freezing fogs of winter and the burning heat of the summer. It is surrounded by a diversity of landscapes and a countryside where large manor houses with defence towers dominate the horizon, former refuges for those fleeing Burber pirate attacks. Today several of such towers have been reconverted into establishments catering for agricultural and rural tourism."
Porto Cristo
infomallorca.com calls Porto Cristo "the charming coastal port town for Manacor". Check the link for some great pictures. This is where Rafa has spent so much of his free time in recent years. The paparazzi in the area must have made a small fortune from the pictures they have taken of him there.
It's not all lazing around, though. Rafa has often said how his perfect day involves fishing. Looking at these pictures from one of his blogs it's easy to understand why that would be a great activity with the cloudless sky and deep blue sea.
And then there's the golf.
Val d'Or
According to
illesbalears.com "The Illes Balears are quite a paradise for golf lovers: the bid to attract winter tourists anxious to play the "green sport" has led to a proliferation of golf clubs; at present there is a total of twenty five top flight clubs, twenty two of which are in Mallorca".
Make the most of your time there, Rafa. It won't be long before you are back on your travels.
