Roland Garros 2015 - Week Two
by MAC

It is a truth universally acknowledged that all streaks in tennis come to an end at some point. Thus it was for Rafa this week at Roland Garros.

Having beaten Jack Sock, 6-3, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, he lost to Novak Djokovic in the quarter finals, 5-7, 3-6, 1-6.

Pundits and commentators alike are gleefully assuming that this is the beginning of the end for Rafa. I beg to differ. In his last return from injury, at the beginning of 2013, Rafa was able to storm through the year and win 10 tournaments (including 2 grand slams and 5 masters). It is therefore assumed, that because he hasn't managed the same this year, he is a spent force. They all forget that they were universally astounded at his achievements in 2013.

So, at the suggestion of loobyloo, rather than dwell on what has gone wrong this week, let's just celebrate all he has achieved at Roland Garros in the past decade.

I'm sure we'll be seeing you holding that trophy again, Rafa
