Rafa entered both the singles and doubles draws for Indian Wells.

In doubles, Rafa partnered with Bernard Tomic.

 
They beat Pablo Carreno Busta and Joao Sousa in the first round, 6-4, 7-6(7)

 
before narrowly losing to the sixth-seeded team of Raven Klaasen and Rajeev Ram in the second, 6-3, 6-7(4), 9-11.

 
 

In the round of 64 of the singles Rafa played Guido Pella for the first time and beat him, 6-3, 6-2.

 
 
 

In the round of 32 he beat Fernando Verdasco,6-3, 7-5 .

 
 

Rafa lost in the round of 16 to Roger Federer, 2-6, 3-6.

 
"You need to play your best if you want to have chances to win, and I did not play my best. It's obvious that I have to congratulate him because he played a great match.
